The Red Haired Stokie Launches The Staffordshire Signal – A New Platform Shining a Spotlight on the Present Day in Staffordshire
Staffordshire, UK – Local historian, storyteller and community advocate Jenna Goodwin, known online as The Red Haired Stokie, has officially launched The Staffordshire Signal CIC, a new non-profit platform aimed at celebrating modern Staffordshire through a dedicated website and an upcoming monthly lifestyle magazine.
With a combined following of around 70,000 people across social media, Jenna is known for shining a light on local history, hidden stories, and the culture of Stoke-on-Trent and the wider county. But she says it’s time to put just as much focus on what’s happening now.
“There’s a deep and deserved love for our local history, but not nearly enough attention is given to the brilliant things happening right now,” says Jenna. “From grassroots projects and creative businesses to community events and everyday people making a difference, there’s so much to celebrate. Unfortunately, much of the local media is driven by clicks, conflict, and profit. So I removed that pressure and built something that puts people and positivity first.”
What is The Staffordshire Signal?
The Staffordshire Signal is a free, independent platform dedicated to supporting local life without the clickbait, negativity or pop-up ads found elsewhere.
- The website – www.staffordshiresignal.com – is now live, and currently features:
- A community events calendar
- A directory of trusted local businesses and organisations
- A special offers and local deals section
- Events shared across social media and into The Staffordshire Signal Community Facebook Group
- The magazine, a full-size A4 lifestyle magazine, will be printed monthly and made available completely free in shops, cafés, venues, and community spaces across Staffordshire. A digital version will also be available on the website and an upcoming app for Android and iOS.
Why It Matters
Jenna started The Staffordshire Signal to cut through the online noise and negativity and create something rooted in positivity, pride, and connection. As The Red Haired Stokie, she’s spent years promoting the area’s rich past, but saw a growing need for a platform that supports today’s people, places, and progress.
“I wanted to create something that connects people, highlights what’s happening, and reminds us all why we should feel proud of where we live. There are fantastic events, businesses, and stories unfolding every single week, but they’re too often overlooked. The Staffordshire Signal is here to change that and make sure those moments don’t go unseen.”
