Keele Green Festival to celebrate sustainability

A huge bamboo arch swing will be constructed at Keele University next week as part of a festival celebrating sustainability.

Keele Green Festival 2023 begins on Monday, 12 March, and will feature various events where people can learn about issues including carbon, energy and climate change; responsible production and consumption; growing and gardening; wellbeing and connection; and personal development and careers.

The arch swing will be made out of UK-grown borinda bamboo and is designed to test the boundaries of what is possible with the plant.

It is a collaboration between Appetite, ArtsKeele, Imagineer and a host of world-class experts, who will start construction outside the KPA Clubhouse on Tuesday, 13 March. Volunteer builders are welcome and can register in advance.

Members of the public will be able swing from the arch during an event on Saturday, 18 March.

The festival will run until Saturday, 25 March.
