Fun days out in Staffordshire during May half term

Families looking for great days out in Staffordshire during the May half term holidays are being reminded that the county has plenty on offer.

From national attractions, UK leading theme parks and the magnificent outdoors, there’s something for everyone.

CBeebies Land at Alton Towers Resort is celebrating its tenth birthday and families can join the stars for live entertainment, family fun, and meet & greets with special guests.  Fiestaval is back at Drayton Manor Resort in Tamworth, bringing a vibrant celebration with samba rhythms, fiesta festivities and an explosion of colour.

Families can make a splash at Waterworld, as it celebrates its 35th birthday, and can have a roar-some time with the dinosaurs at Uttoxeter Racecourse and the National Forest Adventure Farm in Burton.  And remember, it’s Buy One Get One Free at the Snowdome for the whole of May!

Wolsley Wildlife Centre is inviting families to conduct a Bioblitz on Park Bank to see what species can be found and at the same time, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust will be in the Learning Hub delivering some free wildlife themed crafts.  People can join in for one or both sessions between 1.30 – 3.30pm on Wednesday 29 May.

If it’s live music people are after, Club Fest 2024 brings Scouting for Girls, Toploader, and Jason Donovan to Weston Park over the Bank Holiday weekend, along with family activities, wellbeing club and delicious street food.

At Cannock Chase Forest, join the hunt for the Gruffalo or meet the pups from Paw Patrol at Statfold.  At Lower Drayton Farm, families are invited to PLAY@ at Teddy Bears’ Tea Party.

Brampton Museum in Newcastle Under Lyme is hosting a half term film show of the Victorian adventure mystery, Sherlock Holmes (25 May, 14:00 – 16:00) Tickets are £5 per person.  Families can also follow the trail around the magical Biddulph Grange Garden and help the fairies find their shopping list, hidden away by the naughty goblins.  Along the way, take part in fun activities such as visiting the fairy village, the toadstool hop and making a wish on the wishing tree.

Bring out your creative side at World of Wedgwood and Lichfield Cathedral, tackle a trail at the National Memorial Arboretum, and chug through Staffordshire countryside on the steam trains of Churnet Valley Railway.
