Top 10 subject success for Keele in University Guides

Ten subject areas at Keele University have been ranked in the top 10 in England in the Guardian and Mail University Guides 2025, including Geography being ranked best in the UK, and Environmental Science second.

Forensic Science, Medicine, Physiotherapy, Geography, Midwifery, and General Nursing all performed strongly in the annual Guardian University Guides 2025, placing in the Top 10 in England.

The Guardian University Guide ranks courses based on metrics including student satisfaction with teaching, teaching quality, career prospects after graduating, student retention, and student to staff ratio.

In the Mail University Guide 2025, Geography at Keele was ranked top in England, Environmental Science second, alongside strong top 10 performances for Medicine, and Nursing and Midwifery.

The Mail University Guide ranking focuses on what students think about the quality of the teaching they receive, the support offered to them and their wider experience at university, as well as considering widening access metrics.

Professor Mark Ormerod, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost at Keele University, said: “I’m delighted that five of our subject areas at Keele have been ranked in the top five in England in this year’s Guardian and Mail University Guides, with a further five subject areas in the top 10, reflecting the high quality of the teaching, student satisfaction and student support, student retention and career prospects after graduation.

“As a university with a strong commitment to excellence in both education and research, these very strong rankings set the bar for all our subject areas at Keele.”

Keele University is hosting open days for undergraduate students at its campus on Saturday, October 12, Sunday, October 13 and Saturday, November 16. To book a place, visit www.keele.ac.uk/study/opendays/undergraduateopendays/
