Public Engagement Begins for £18 Million Investment in Staffordshire’s Countryside

Residents and visitors are being urged to share their views on the future of two of Staffordshire’s best loved countryside destinations.

Engagement activities will be taking place at Cannock Chase (Marquis Drive) and Chasewater over the next week, both on-site and through an online survey seeking feedback to help shape improvements to the destinations.

This engagement is part of an £18 million investment by Staffordshire County Council aimed at enhancing Cannock Chase, Chasewater, and the Staffordshire Way.

This investment aims to make the most of Staffordshire’s environmental treasures and instil pride in the county.

Already a vibrant tourist destination, the council hopes this investment will attract even more visitors and boost the local economy.

Long-term plans include redeveloping visitor hubs at Cannock Chase, upgrading Chasewater’s facilities, and relaunching the 92-mile Staffordshire Way to encourage exploration of the county’s natural beauty.

Improvements will celebrate Staffordshire’s rich heritage while balancing recreation and nature conservation.

People’s views are key to shaping these plans, which will be rolled out over the coming years.

Victoria Wilson, Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture, said: “Cannock Chase and Chasewater are such important parts of Staffordshire’s natural beauty, and we want to make sure they stay protected while continuing to meet the needs of the people who use them.”

“Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor, your input will help us to shape their future, so these spaces can be enjoyed by everyone for years to come.”
