GivEnergy launches the country’s first careers project for Primary Schools.

GivEnergy, and its not-for-profit arm GivEducation, have launched the UK’s first-ever careers project tailored to Primary Schools. This groundbreaking initiative welcomed teachers from 40 schools across the area to GivEnergy’s bespoke manufacturing and distribution centre for two action-packed days, showcasing how green tech is shaping the future and speaking with employees about what skills the UK’s largest battery storage manufacturer looks for in its workforce.

Designed to inspire and educate, this project seeks to elevate awareness of career opportunities within Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding areas and to raise aspirations among the region’s youngest learners. By equipping educators with insights and resources, Staffordshire-based GivEnergy and GivEducation are fostering a pipeline of future talent passionate about creating a more sustainable world.

Jason Howlett, Global CEO at GivEnergy said: “This initiative is about more than education — it’s about empowering the next generation to dream bigger and aim higher within our community, We are thrilled to collaborate with such dedicated educators who play a pivotal role in shaping young minds and broadening their horizons.”

Joe Basketts, Education Director at GivEducation, said: “By allowing young learners the time to focus on their futures this early on in their school careers, we can not only contextualise learning outcomes for them but also inspire them to raise their aspirations when it comes to the type of careers they could achieve once they leave education. We’re immensely proud to be leading the way on this initiative, and we hope this can be a catalyst for other businesses nationwide to follow suit.”

The day itself was part of the wider “Start Small; Dream Big” initiative, led by The Careers & Enterprise Company, in conjunction with The Inspirational Learning Group and Stoke and Staffordshire Careers Hub.

The initiative includes a practical element, where participating schools are asked to plan, develop and pitch ideas for the next renewable energy breakthrough to a panel of experts comprised of GivEnergy and GivEducation staff members. The first-of-its-kind project aims to develop and nurture key skills in young students, such as creativity, working as part of a team, and communicating your ideas succinctly to an audience.

Paul Williams, Strategic Hub Lead at The Careers & Enterprise Company said: “It’s been a fantastic collaboration between Stoke Staffs Careers Hub, The Inspirational Learning Group, and the fantastic GivEnergy delivering a transformative Teacher Encounter event. This unique CPD opportunity engaged educators in the skills young people need to transition into work or further education. The day offered invaluable insights into the green energy agenda, provided tools to bring the curriculum to life, and showcased GivEnergy’s impressive operations. A truly brilliant day for all involved!”

The programme will culminate with a celebration held at Keele University later in the year, where the schools involved will be able to pitch their ideas to an expert panel of judges and come together to recognise this landmark initiative.
