Tamworth Castle awarded Blue Peter badge venue status!

Tamworth Borough Council is excited to announce that Tamworth Castle has been officially recognised as a Blue Peter badge venue. This prestigious status means that children who have earned a Blue Peter badge can now visit the castle for free, making it even more accessible for young people and families to explore the town’s rich history.

Blue Peter badge venues are carefully selected based on the educational and enriching experiences they offer. Tamworth Castle is thrilled to join over 200 other attractions across the UK that offer free entry to Blue Peter badge holders, reflecting its ongoing commitment to inspire curiosity, learning, and a sense of local pride among young visitors.

Councillor Lewis Smith, portfolio holder for people services, engagement, leisure and heritage for Tamworth Borough Council said: “Being awarded Blue Peter Badge venue status is a wonderful endorsement of everything we strive to achieve here at Tamworth Castle.

“This recognition reinforces our commitment to making history accessible and engaging for the next generation. We’re excited to welcome more young explorers and their families to the castle.

“We celebrate this important milestone as we continue to provide memorable experiences that spark learning and imagination.”

The Blue Peter badge scheme will allow:

  • Free entry for children with a valid Blue Peter badge and badge ID card.
  • Accompanied by a full-paying or concessionary adult (one adult can bring up to two children with badges for free entry).
  • Disabled badge holders and their registered carers can also enjoy free entry, with supporting documents required for carers.

This exciting news is part of the council’s ongoing efforts to increase access to culture and heritage across Tamworth, making the castle a more welcoming and engaging destination for families.
