A Night of Competition and Community in Burton upon Trent
Burton upon Trent based Russell Roof Tiles has celebrated another hugely successful charity night on Thursday 20 November, raising a record £20,950 at its Annual Big Quiz, at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium.
The event marks a key milestone in the company’s 60th anniversary year, during which the pioneering roof tile manufacturer has committed to raising £60,000 for local and international causes through its Give4Good initiative.
A total of 36 teams—made up of customers, suppliers, staff, friends and family from across the UK took part in a highly competitive evening of quizzing, accompanied by a charity auction, raffle and Deal or No Deal style challenge.
The winning team comprised Russell Roof Tiles’ own sales colleagues, who donated their charity prize winnings back to Give4Good.
The Big Quiz forms part of a year-round fundraising calendar for Give4Good, which was launched in 2022 to support community-led projects and has so far raised over £250,000. This year, the initiative is backing three Staffordshire charities, as well national and international organisations.
In its diamond jubilee year, Managing Director Andrew Hayward said: “We are delighted to have hosted another hugely successful Big Quiz, bringing people together for a memorable evening while raising a fantastic amount for charities.
We had more than 100 people in the room, and we’re extremely grateful to everyone who took part and especially Burton Albion for their continued support. This event once again demonstrates the generosity of our community and the real difference these funds make to people’s lives.”
The quiz is one of the final major fundraising activities of the year, following a diverse programme of staff-led challenges including sponsored walks, sporting events, a triathlon, tubing, and community days, in addition to over 100 staff members donating to Give4Good every month through their salary.
This year’s Give4Good beneficiaries in Staffordshire – nominated by the firms’ staff are Staffordshire, Cheshire & Shropshire Blood Bikes, Burton YMCA and Burton Albion Community Trust.
Celebrating 60 years of growth and innovation, founded in 1965 as the Annandale Tile Company on an 11-acre site near Lochmaben, Russell Roof Tiles has grown into a major UK manufacturer with three sites, supplying thousands of roof tiles and accessories nationwide.
This anniversary year also sees the completion of a significant £18.5 million investment to double production capacity at its main Burton tile plant – one of the most important developments in the company’s six-decade history.
