Staffordshire on TV screens during Celebrity MasterChef Finals Week
Three popular Staffordshire locations have made an appearance on BBC One this week as part of Celebrity MasterChef Finals Week.
On Monday 15th December, viewers watched as World of Wedgwood and Lunar hosted the the remaining five celebrity contestants, with pastry skills under scrutiny. During the episode – led by Cherish Finden, one of the world’s leading pastry chefs – the finalists took over the Wedgwood Tea Room at World of Wedgwood to serve afternoon tea on iconic Wedgwood tableware collections, Renaissance and Gio Gold.

The celebrities prepared the delectable afternoon tea in Lunar’s Kitchen before heading over to the Tea Room. Guests served by the celebrity contestants included Wedgwood Ornamenter and Figure Maker, Isabella McGough, Chief Curator of the V&A Wedgwood Collection, Catrin Jones, along with potter Florian Gadsby, ceramicist Hitomi Hosono, Councillor Lynn Sharpe, and Wedgwood descendant Simon Wedgwood.
Those lucky enough to be picked to go forward had little time to let it sink in, as they headed straight to Lichfield for their next assignment, the daunting Chef’s Table, held at The Boat, a three-rosette restaurant led by chef patron Liam Dillon. Liam started his training with Marcus Wareing and went on to work in some of the finest restaurants in the world, including Noma in Copenhagen and Eleven Madison Park in New York – both of which have three Michelin stars.
The final three each cooked one of Liam’s modern British dishes for six chefs who are also at the top of their game: Lisa Goodwin-Allen, Sat Bains, Paul Ainsworth, Chet Sharma, David Taylor and Chantelle Nicholson.

Jonny Shelton, Film Office Manager at our film office, Screen Staffordshire, commented:
“Screen Staffordshire are delighted to have seen MasterChef shoot at World of Wedgwood, Lunar and The Boat. In putting historic and unique Staffordshire locations and their stories on screen, nationally-renowned shows like MasterChef bring a real positive energy, economic impact and civic pride to the area’s locality. We hope to see MasterChef back around these parts soon and welcome them with open arms.”
