£1 million refurbishment marks new era for NSCG Leek College

On 1 August 2025, Leek College officially joined the Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG), marking an exciting new chapter for education in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

Over the summer, the campus has benefitted from major investment in its facilities totalling £1 million, to provide students with the best possible to start to the new academic year.

The extensive works have seen classrooms across the campus upgraded with brand-new resources, modern furniture and IT equipment, including smartboards, PCs and laptops. Significant improvements have also been made to the IT infrastructure and telephony systems, ensuring that students and staff have access to fast, reliable and future-ready technology.

In addition to these functional upgrades, a wide-scale redecoration programme has transformed much of the campus. The improvements have been completed with the installation of new NSCG signage, proudly marking Leek College’s place within NSCG family.

Craig Hodgson, Principal and CEO at NSCG, said: “Leek College has a long and proud history within the local community and we are delighted to be building on that legacy now that it is part of the NSCG family. This £1 million investment demonstrates our commitment to providing first-class facilities and resources for learners in the Staffordshire Moorlands. We are excited to begin this new chapter and to work closely with staff, students and the wider community to shape a bright future for Leek College.”

Leek College has a proud history at the heart of the local community, dating back to 1863 with the establishment of the Leek School of Art. Over the years, it has continued to evolve, becoming Leek College of Further Education in 1981 and later joining the University of Derby in 2012 as part of Buxton and Leek College.

Offering a range of courses including T Levels, vocational programmes, apprenticeships and foundation studies, NSCG Leek College has pathways suited to all learners. To find out more visit the website or come along to the next open event on Thursday 20th November, 5:30pm-8pm.
