Two Place Board members announced as new Deputy Lieutenants for Staffordshire

A new Vice Lord-Lieutenant and twelve new Deputy Lieutenants for Staffordshire have been appointed this week by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, Mr Ian James Dudson CBE KStJ.

Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Graham Robert Morley was appointed to the role on Sunday 30 April 2023.  He will support the Lord-Lieutenant in his duties and will stand-in for him when he is absent, sick, or otherwise unable to act.

The Deputy Lieutenants, who include our We Are Staffordshire Place Board Chair Hannah Ault and Place Board member Josie Morris MBE, will take up their roles from Wednesday 3 May, with a formal commissioning ceremony taking place at County Buildings in Stafford later in the year.

Speaking about the appointments, Mr Dudson said: “It is a great pleasure to welcome Staffordshire’s new Deputy Lieutenants. They have all been selected because of their roles within their communities and I am sure they will do an excellent job.”

His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant is the King’s representative in the county.  He represents His Majesty on a wide variety of occasions which merit royal support, and which celebrate significant achievement in the public, private and voluntary sectors. He works across the county, with his Deputy Lieutenants, to promote Staffordshire and to help it become a better place to live and work.

Mr Morley said:

“I’m honoured to have been appointed as the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire and I look forward to supporting Mr Dudson and the wider Lieutenancy team.

“Staffordshire is a great place to live, learn, volunteer and do business, and in my new role, I will be doing my utmost to ensure that the individuals and organisations who contribute to the success and achievements in our County are celebrated for the outstanding work they do.”

Josie said:

“I am proud and excited to become a Deputy Lieutenant of Staffordshire.  I love this area and am committed to ensuring I use this honour for the betterment of the area and those in it.”
