Affordable days out for families this half term in Staffordshire

Families looking for affordable days out in Staffordshire over the February half term holiday are being reminded that there’s plenty on offer.

Whether it’s visits to paid for attractions, trips to the countryside or activities at local libraries, museums, galleries, or animal attractions the county has plenty of options that won’t break the bank.

The county’s Enjoy Staffordshire team have also produced a handy list of 30 different family friendly places to visit for less than £30.  And if families are planning to visit an attraction more than once, an annual pass can also help to keep the cost down.

Philip White, Deputy Leader at Staffordshire County Council and Chair of Enjoy Staffordshire said:

“We know that many families will be struggling with the increasing cost of living, but we’re keen to remind them that there are still affordable options when it comes to entertaining the family over the half term holidays.

“Our #30DaysUnder30Pounds campaign, which we launched last summer aims to give families fun days out without costing the earth.  Most of the attractions we’ve highlighted are either free admission or cost no more than £30 for a family of four to enter.  Everyone deserves the chance to escape, and as the UK’s biggest and best playground, and with something for everyone, Staffordshire is the ideal place to do so.”

Staffordshire’s visitor economy is worth around £1.8 billion annually, attracting around 28 million day or overnight trips each year. Tourism is also the fourth largest sector and supports around 33,000 jobs.

The team’s suggested activities are available across the county, so why not explore the great outdoors from the Peak District in the north of the county to Cannock Chase. Choose from easy family walks and safe off-road cycle routes.

More creative families can also get hands-on with some pottery fun at one of the fantastic pottery attractions.  Staffordshire libraries will also be running free or low-cost activities and events over half term, so it’s worth finding out what’s on.

People can find out more and read the team’s full list of 30 days out at www.enjoystaffordshire.com/30under30.
