Burton and Uttoxeter regeneration plans under spotlight ahead of UKREiiF 2026

Over 20 investors, developers and potential delivery partners have gathered in Burton and Uttoxeter to tour key sites primed for investment and explore ambitions and opportunities ahead of the UK’s top real estate event in May.

They were joined by organisers Staffordshire County Council’s Invest Staffordshire Service, We Are Staffordshire – the county’s placemaking organisation, Jacob Collier MP, East Staffordshire Borough Council and lead figures from the UK Real Estate, Investment and Investor Forum (UKREiiF) – which is staging its national event in Leeds next month and host today’s delegates.

The ‘From Brewery Roots to Future Growth’ day event took in town centre tours including The Maltings in Uttoxeter and The Old Brewery Quarter in Burton as well as visits to the Tower Brewery and Uttoxeter Racecourse. It followed a successful promotional event at the House of Commons last month.

In addition to promoting investment sites in both towns, the event highlighted ambitions for the A50/500 growth corridor – the focus of continued lobbying to government to unlock business expansion and significant economic growth. The corridor was recently included in the Government’s road investment strategy 4, for further consideration for development after 2030.

Taking place ahead of the national UKREiiF conference, the event aimed to shape the conversations around the investor priorities that featuring at Staffordshire’s stand at the national forum. Projects to be showcased include:

  • The Old Brewery Quarter – transforming Bass House, Carling House and the historic Water Tower into a major heritage destination with a high‑quality hotel, plaza and improved links to the Washlands
  • The Maltings in Uttoxeter – a 4.4‑acre, borough council‑owned mixed‑use opportunity in planning stages with delivery due to begin later this year
  • The £23.8 million Towns Fund investment in Burton, delivering a new indoor leisure and entertainment complex, a modern food hall, a Washlands Visitor Centre, town‑centre residential schemes and revitalised heritage assets
  • The A50/A500 Growth Corridor; a nationally significant route underpinning thousands of manufacturing and logistics jobs, where upgrades could unlock over 17,000 new jobs, 30,000 homes and £12 billion in long‑term economic growth

By bringing our shared ambitions to UKREiiF, we are demonstrating that Burton and Uttoxeter are ready for significant investment and long‑term success.”

Jacob Collier, Member of Parliament for Burton and Uttoxeter said

“I was delighted to welcome investors to my constituency to position Burton and Uttoxeter for investment and present our local tourism appeal through Burton’s Old Brewery Quarter and the growth potential through Uttoxeter’s A50 and Maltings upgrades.

UKREiiF attracts over 16,000 investors, developers and government representatives each year. Through promotion of Burton’s regeneration priorities at the event, the partnership aims to secure stronger national visibility, attract new development interest, and build momentum behind transport, housing and ongoing place‑making.
