Christmas Kindness in Staffordshire

This festive season, we’re celebrating just a few of the incredible acts of kindness that make our county so special. From community initiatives to individuals going the extra mile, these stories remind us what Staffordshire is all about: generosity, care, and togetherness.

Lowes on Carter Street, Uttoxeter – Christmas Dinners

This festive season, Lowe’s on Carter Street, Uttoxeter, is spreading Christmas cheer in the most incredible way.

Chef George Lowe and his team will be preparing over 200 three course Christmas dinners – completely free of charge, no questions asked – for people in Uttoxeter and the surrounding areas.

This isn’t new for Lowe’s, with George and his wife launching this community scheme years before the restaurant even opened in 2023, and it’s grown every year since.

NSCG Newcastle College – Alice Charity Toy Collection

For more than a decade, NSCG Newcastle College has proudly supported a Christmas toy collection for Alice Charity, coordinated by Early Years tutor Jane Dale. This year has been no exception and has seen the largest collection to date, with donations ranging from walkie-talkies and tea sets to aftershave and make-up, helping to ensure local children and families can enjoy something special at Christmas. Alice Charity supports disadvantaged and vulnerable families across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme, providing both emotional and practical support when it is needed most. Support for the charity continues throughout the year, with Jane encouraging students to get involved in fundraising, food collections and hygiene donation campaigns, helping to ensure everyone has access to essential items and ongoing support within the local community.

NSCG Newcastle College – Dogs Trust photoshoot

Three Photography students from NSCG Newcastle College organised a festive photoshoot to raise money for Dogs Trust. Members of the NSCG community brought in their furry friends for portraits, with all donations going directly to support the charity’s vital care and medical treatment for over 1,400 dogs currently waiting for their forever homes across 21 rehoming centres in the UK.

Lichfield Cathedral – Christmas Tree Festival

Organised by the Friends of Lichfield Cathedral and sponsored by Lovell, the Christmas Tree Festival is a highlight of Advent in Lichfield, drawing families and friends together to share in the joy of the season.

Local businesses, schools, and charities have decorated a wonderful festive array of real Christmas trees. The free Festival is open until 4th January 2026.

Dougie Mac Hospice – 2025 Christmas Jumper Day

The North Staffordshire community came together on 12 January to support the Dougie Mac’s annual Christmas Jumper day to raise money for the hospice which provides care and support for local families.

JCB – Christmas Toy Appeal

Generous JCB employees have delivered another record year for the company’s annual Christmas Toy Appeal – donating an amazing 1,787 gifts.

Donations poured into 15 different collection points across the company’s UK plants when the appeal was launched in November, beating last year’s total of 1,700 presents.  The bulk of the gifts have been handed over to Stoke-on-Trent charity the Hubb Foundation for distribution to families in the greatest need.
