Free Environmentally Friendly Festival returns for its second year

The Better World Festival, celebrating all things sustainability and wellbeing, will return to Stoke-on-Trent City Centre this summer.

Children’s activities, guest speakers, mindfulness workshops, vegan food preparation workshops, World Music and an Artisan Market are all part of the packed programme designed to inspire new ways of thinking at Better World Festival, which will return to the City Centre on 15th & 16th July 2022

Stoke-on-Trent City Centre Business Improvement District (BID) is set to transform the entire City Centre into an eco-friendly hive of activities, workshops, discussion, food and drink offerings, and unique shopping experiences, with a dedicated Kidzone to inspire youngsters to lead active and healthy lifestyle, championing sustainable practices.

The two-day festival will have entertainment scheduled throughout each day from 10am until late, suitable for the whole family.

Stoke-on-Trent City Centre BID Manager Richard Buxton, says:

“Sustainability and our environment is an important agenda for the BID and so our aim is for The Better World Festival to be an integral catalyst in inspiring new behaviours and implementing positive change around the environment and reducing waste – something we all must play a part in for the good of our planet.

“The aim of The Better World Festival is to celebrate our wonderful world and to ask and address those questions about how we can all start making sustainable choices today for a Better World tomorrow.

“We are very much looking forward to bringing something different to the city centre and to emphasise the importance of sustainability. We are inviting speakers, activists, pioneers, charities, community groups and everyone with an interest in creating positive change to be a part of our packed Better World Festival programme.

“With three music stages, a Kidzone, two areas hosting an exciting programme of activities focusing on the environment, unity, and wellbeing, a chill-out retreat, a bar area and an artisan market, you’re bound to take something away from this special festival and be inspired. Plus, we’ll be launching a number of exciting, sustainable initiatives over the weekend.”

Whilst this family friendly festival will be completely free to attend, this year Stoke-on-Trent City Centre BID are appealing for visitors to donate to the Stoke on Trent Food Bank who will be attending the Festival across both days with various charity focused activities taking place over the course of the weekend including a trolley dash throughout the City Centre.

Corinne Boden MBE, Stoke-on-Trent Food Bank Operations Manager commented:

“We are excited to be at the Better World Festival for a second year, as this year is Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank’s 10th Anniversary. We shouldn’t need to exist but we do want to say a heartfelt thank you to the people of Stoke-on-Trent; pay tribute to the amazing support that we’ve received that has enabled us together to feed over 115,000 people – emergency food given to those in real need.

During the Festival we will be recreating our 2013 Trolley Push Starting at a nearby school and touring the area, our emergency worker Firefighter Spencer will be raising awareness for the Foodbanks whilst collecting vital emergency food.  We will also have presence during the festival on Charity Street where we will have our own stall and will be collecting food. We are urging everyone visiting the festival to donate where they can.”

Steven Alty, Sales Manager at the 140-bed Hilton Garden Inn located in Smithfield, is also backing the event:

“At the Hilton Garden Inn we are introducing a special 20% discount rate for anyone who wishes to stay in the city centre and really make the most of The Better World Festival.
