Get involved in this year’s Staffordshire Day!

People from across the county are being invited to get involved in this year’s Staffordshire Day celebrations.

The annual event, which takes place on 1 May, celebrates all that’s great about our county,  people, places, culture and landscapes.

The first official Staffordshire Day took place in 2016, the year the county turned 1,000 years old. 1 May was chosen as the date through a public poll as it is the anniversary of Josiah Wedgwood setting up his pottery company in 1759.

This year, the focus is on photography and people are invited to submit images of Staffordshire to showcase as part of the celebrations. Whether it’s a beautiful landscape shot, a local hidden gem, or a favourite spot in a town or village.

Chosen images will be featured and credited as part of the campaign and shared across social media.

Residents and businesses alike are also being invited to share the message themselves through social media, using the #StaffordshireDay hashtag and by downloading the 2025 Staffordshire Day Toolkit to get involved and use across social and web channels to help spread the message and love for the county.

Charlotte Cain, Staffordshire Investment Agency Manager said: “This is now our ninth Staffordshire Day. We’re a great county to visit with great people, amazing attractions and locations and Staffordshire Day is our way of letting everyone know.

“This year, photography is taking centre stage and what better way to showcase our amazing county than through photos and pictures. And, it doesn’t matter whether you’re an amateur or a professional, please send us your shots and we’ll feature them throughout the celebration.

“Remember there’s also lots of other events taking place on the day and over the weekend, so please join us in celebrating everything that makes our county special. Check out the Visit Staffordshire website to see what’s happening near you as well as downloading the toolkit and sharing the message.”

Organisers running events in Staffordshire as part of the Day’s celebrations can submit details of these via the Visit Staffordshire website.

To submit an image as part of Staffordshire Day celebrations, email the Staffordshire County Council communications team with your name and where the photo was taken.
