It’s time to pull on your festive knit

Dougie Mac has chosen Friday 13th December for this year’s Christmas Jumper Day, and while the date may be unlucky for some, Dougie Mac is hoping it will be a bumper day of festive fundraising.

Deborah Vickers, Head of Business and Events Fundraising at Dougie Mac, said, “Our Christmas Jumper Day has been a favourite date in the diary of Dougie Mac supporters for many years, and this year we’d love even more schools, businesses, community groups and families to join in the fun.

“Although Friday 13th is traditionally known as an unlucky day, we’re hoping this will be a lucky one for Dougie Mac as our supporters help us to raise lots of money to continue our care and support services for local families.

“It’s so easy to get involved, all you need a Christmas Jumper and a donation for Dougie Mac and you’re ready to go! Although many supporters use Christmas Jumper Day as an excuse to have a whole day of festive fun, with fancy dress competitions, raffles, bake sales and tombolas – all to raise money for their local hospice, which is just amazing.”

This year Dougie Mac’s “official” Christmas Jumper Day is on Friday 13th December, but supporters can choose any day to hold their day of festive fundraising. And, whatever amount you’re able to donate, whether it’s £1 or £5, your support really makes a difference, enabling Dougie Mac to provide exceptional care for our local community.

Deborah added, “Christmas Jumper Day is great fun and really gets everyone in a festive mood, but it’s also a really important way to raise vital funds for Dougie Mac. We rely enormously on the support and generosity of our local community to raise the money we need to continue our specialist care and support services for people of all ages. We’re so grateful to everyone who takes part, not only in Christmas Jumper Day, but also in our other fundraising activities throughout the year.”
