Staffordshire farm welcomes HUGE prehistoric visitors ready for summer adventures!

It’s been millions of years since dinosaurs roamed the Staffordshire landscape – but this summer you’ll be forgiven for thinking you’ve travelled back in time as you drive past Penkridge’s Lower Drayton Farm – and catch a glimpse of huge prehistoric beasts towering above its fields along the A449.

No less than eight animatronic life-size dinosaurs have arrived at the farm ready to wow visitors to its PLAY@ farm attraction this summer, as part of the Dino Discovery Maize Maze adventure! The farm’s social media followers were invited to come up with names for the dinos – which include Tiny the life-size T-Rex; Dippy the Diplodocus; Velociraptors Penkridge, Dunston, Gailey and Trussell; Ankylosaurus Lizzie and Trike the baby Triceratops.

Farmer, Richard Bower, says:

“Last year, visitors to our Dino Discovery Maize Maze were tasked with tracking down a dinosaur egg that had been uncovered on the farm. This year, they will be on a mission to help our dino rangers find eight lost dinos around the massive maize maze. The question is, will they find the dinos (or get lost themselves) and avoid getting eaten by the T-Rex and Velociraptors. The maize crop is already towering at 6ft so we estimate it will be over 8ft height by the time we open the maze on 26th July – so it’s going to be a really fun family challenge!”

In addition to finding the lost dinos, the Dino Discovery Maize Maze experience will see youngsters hunt for fossils, get creative with dino-themed crafts and learn all about modern day ‘dinosaurs’ in a special ‘Meet the Reptiles’ talk. The full day out will also include access to PLAY@ with its huge indoor playbarns, acres of outdoor space, packed programme of animal talks and interactions and fun yet educational farm trailer ride. Weather allowing, there will also be daily foam parties held at 4-5pm throughout the summer break.

If you’re looking for a family day out that’s packed with fun and adventure, head to www.playatthefarm.co.uk for further details and save when you book online. The Dino Discovery Maize Maze experience is all part of standard PLAY@ admission from Wednesday 26th July – Sunday 3rd September.
