Staffordshire seaside? PLAY@ brings the beach to Penkridge this summer!

Landlocked Staffordshire might be the last place you’d expect to find a beach – but PLAY@ Lower Drayton Farm has brought the seaside a little closer for families this summer!

A whopping 400 tonnes of play-grade sand has transformed part of the attraction near Penkridge into a beach-inspired summer playground, complete with dozens of deckchairs and plenty of buckets and spades.

Families can build sandcastles, feel the sand between their toes or simply kick back in a deckchair and recharge with an ice cream. The new beach will also provide the setting for PLAY@’s daily 4pm foam parties, bringing even more seaside-style fun to summer visits.

Farmer Richard Bower said:
“There’s something really nostalgic about feeling sand between your toes, watching the children build sandcastles and enjoying an ice cream in a deckchair.

“We may be a long way from the coast here in Staffordshire, but we wanted to bring that seaside feeling a little closer for local families – without the long car journey or the worry of the tide coming in! The beach is a brilliant place for everyone to pause and relax during a busy day of adventures at PLAY@.”

The beach joins a jam-packed line-up of activities during PLAY@’s Six Weeks of Summer, with the family attraction open daily from 10am until 5pm.

Visitors can tackle the new-look maize maze, explore the woodland Dino Walk and Meet the Machines tractor museum, enjoy ‘Water Wars’ fun, take a farm trailer ride and meet a host of animals through daily talks and interactions.

There are also acres of outdoor adventures including zipwires, grass toboggans, go-karts, bouncy pillows and woodland play, alongside massive indoor play barns – offering plenty to enjoy whatever the British summer weather brings. There’s also the chance to make is a 2-day adventure by camping in the farm’s campsite overnight as an upgrade to PLAY@ tickets.

PLAY@ Lower Drayton Farm is located just outside Penkridge, Staffordshire, only one mile from Junction 13 of the M6 and within easy reach of Stafford, Cannock, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent and Telford.

Advance booking is recommended, with online tickets at just £15.50pp for a full day of adventure down on the farm – www.playatthefarm.co.uk
