Staffordshire showcases investment opportunities at UKREiiF 2024

Staffordshire  showcased what makes the county a great place to invest at a national conference last week.

A delegation from the county council and its partners exhibited and attended UKREiiF (UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum) in Leeds with over 12,000 attendees.

The three-day event brings together local and regional public sector organisations with Government, investors, funders, developers, housebuilders and more.

Staffordshire’s delegation included the county council and all eight district and borough councils as We Are Staffordshire – the county’s place marketing organisation.

Throughout the week, We Are Staffordshire hosted a series of events and launches over the three days, promoting the A50/A500 green energy and manufacturing corridor, town centre schemes and development opportunities to progress the i54 area around the South Staffordshire and Wolverhampton border.

Our activity highlights from the event:

Turning the Fifty500 in to a global manufacturing and innovation superpower 

On Tuesday 21st May, Staffordshire County Council hosted a panel discussion with Midlands Engine to highlight the opportunities and and potential of the A50/A500 corridor – now known as Fifty500. The discussion was hosted by Philip White, Deputy Leader & Cabinet Member for Economy, Infrastructure & Skills and included John Kavanagh, Group Communications Director at JCB, Dan Cooper, Head of Communications at East Midlands Freeport, Dr Sharon George, Senior Lecturer, Keele University and Sarah Spink,  Stakeholder Engagement Lead, Midlands Connect

Driving the benefits of the Wolverhampton and Staffordshire Economic Growth Zone

The three councils behind the i54 business park – the UK’s most successful enterprise zone – connected with national advisors and partners at a UKREiiF roundtable to help shape the vision for a potential new economic growth zone in Wolverhampton and Staffordshire.

The roundtable explored opportunities to build on the Green Innovation Corridor by developing an economic growth zone in the geographic area either side of the City of Wolverhampton-Staffordshire county border.

Unlocking investment for Staffordshire’s County Towns

Staffordshire worked with UKREiiF to invite renowned developers and investors for a private discussion to discuss the development opportunities in Staffordshire’s town centres. Themes explored at the roundtable included delivering quality housing, reimagining high streets and ambitious ideas, celebrating heritage and culture and how Staffordshire can attract future investment.

The discussion included representation from: Legal & General, Aviva, Capital&Centric, St Modwen, Yoo Capital, Ellandi and more

Lichfield launched three new city centre gateway opportunities

Lichfield District Council announced the launch of three iconic new development and investment opportunities in the heart of Lichfield City Centre.

The opportunities were officially unveiled at the UK Real Estate Investment & Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) 2024.  Members of the Lichfield team shared details and met potential development partners at the event.

The new opportunities are part of the gateway Birmingham Road Site, a pivotal project designed to transform the city centre.

Developer partner announced to transform Stafford Town Centre

ION Developments will now work with the county council to take forward the Eastgate regeneration scheme.

The redevelopment aims to increase the area’s attraction to new residents, businesses and visitors, helping to establish Stafford as a leading UK county town.

Outline proposals have been submitted by ION for residential and mixed-use developments on the sites including the potential reuse of a large part of the former county council offices which are currently vacant.
