Stoke on Trent College and LaunchIt announce new, free employability course to Staffordshire residents

Stoke on Trent College are pleased to announce the start of a new, free employability course, delivered as a patron of the LaunchIt scheme.

LaunchIt Stoke-on-Trent, works in partnership with Stoke-on-Trent City Council and local trustees to develop a wide range of skills within the community.

These courses are helping to connect the community to essential skills that create positive outcomes, and sustainable career pathways.

Their latest course, LaunchPad, is a focused, employability programme, designed to equip learners with the practical skills, confidence and tools needed not only to secure employment, but enjoy long lasting careers.

The two-day programme covers a wide range of topics including CV writing, interview techniques, confidence building, and job expectations.

Upon completion of the course, learners will have gained proven strategies to take on interviews and create strong, effective CVs.

LaunchPad begins on September 17th  and is free to anyone aged 19+ who is unemployed.

Sessions will be running throughout the year, from September until July 2027.

There will be availability in Longton and in Burslem.

Elliot White, Director of Innovation, Partnerships & Community at Stoke on Trent College said “As a proud patron of LaunchIt, Stoke on Trent College is delighted to be working alongside LaunchIt and the Department for Work and Pensions to support adult learners through our LaunchPad programme.

As an anchor institution for the city, we are committed to ensuring that adults from all backgrounds can access the skills, confidence and support they need to transform their lives and progress into further learning or employment. Strong partnerships with organisations rooted in our communities are central to achieving that ambition.

LaunchPad is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through collaboration. Alongside tailored employability support, we have developed a new AI module that will help learners use emerging technology safely and confidently when searching for jobs, completing applications and preparing for interviews.

We are incredibly proud to be helping local people develop the skills they need to succeed in a rapidly changing workplace.”

Stoke on Trent College offers a wide range of courses designed to help adults learn new skills and reconnect with learning.

If you’re interested in studying on the LaunchPad programme, email Kerry Hancock at khan1sc@stokecoll.ac.uk or call the Skills for Work team on 01782 227650 to book your place.
