‘The Sensory Storyteller’ receives nomination for the ‘What’s on For Kids’ award!

Next month marks The Sensory Storyteller CIC’s first anniversary as a Community Interest Company, and it is with much excitement and gratitude that this local not for profit business can announce their nomination for the ‘What’s on For Kids’ award, in the ‘Charity/ Not for Profit’ category!

Originally starting out with a few baby classes in the community in January 2022 on returning from maternity leave, director Hayley Cheetham applied for the company to become a Community Interest Company two years later due to the nature of its work with children and their families, specifically with the Early Years and with young people with SEND.

Ex teacher Hayley Cheetham’s passion for literacy, communication and inclusion is the driving force behind her workshops and training, as she plans ‘Sensory Storytimes’ that include sensory props and experiences, puppets, Makaton signing and symbols, and nursery rhymes.

Teaming up with other local charities and not for profit organisations, Hayley has supported in the delivery of events and projects with The National Literacy Trust, Thrive at Five, The Indi Club, Middleport Matters, Mothers Mind Staffordshire, The Peter Pan Centre, Caudwell Children, as well as family hubs, libraries, schools and nurseries across the local area.

As the company grows, The Sensory Storyteller CIC works hard to ensure that the company’s goals are achieved. Starting from the very beginning, The Sensory Storyteller CIC aims to “bring the magic of storytime to life” by inspiring a love of books and reading from birth, creating joyful moments for new families and supporting positive carer/ baby attachment. By making storytime accessible for every child and community, The Sensory Storyteller CIC explores core ‘school readiness’ and communication skills, igniting imagination and creating exciting and fun learning experiences for every child.

The Sensory Storyteller CIC can be found on social media here and voting opens for the ‘What’s on For Kids’ awards on the 23rd April if you would like to support this local organisation!
