Celebrating Creativity: Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Moorlands Awarded Arts Council funding
Two arts and culture programmes in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire have been awarded almost £2million as part of Arts Council England’s largest ever Creative People and Places Portfolio.
Stoke-on-Trent based Appetite has been awarded £1million, while Staffordshire Moorlands based OUTSIDE has been awarded £975,000, both securing three more years of investment to deliver high quality arts and cultural activities for local communities.
Rachel Adams, Appetite Director said: “Appetite, its Consortium, community decision makers, volunteers and partners are overjoyed at this funding announcement. It means Appetite can continue to engage and listen to communities and create impactful, incredible events and experiences in and for Stoke-on-Trent over the next three years.
Appetite brings something different to the Six Towns of Stoke-on-Trent; it’s about celebrating what we have and removing any barriers to communities getting involved. We’re always looking for volunteers to help deliver events, and for people to have their say on what should happen in their local areas. Get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.”
Susan Clarke, Chair of the OUTSIDE Board, said: “All of the team at OUTSIDE are delighted to share this great news for the Staffordshire Moorlands. This award from Arts Council England is so welcome, at a time when communities across our rural district need more than ever, to feel connected, creative, and to have a chance to celebrate the stories of the place in which we are proud to live.
“It’s a testament to the impact that all of OUTSIDE; the board, the team, the artists, producers, brilliant volunteers, and community partners are having, and we thank Arts Council England for their recognition of them.”
Funding for both programmes has been made possible thanks to National Lottery players. Every National Lottery ticket purchased generates money for good causes and enables people in villages, towns, and cities up and down the country to get access to cultural experiences where they live.
